Welcome back to the blog! First of all let's go over the UI I am creating.
For this game I have decided to go with a UI designed like a real life HUD. The actual character in game would be able to see the different UI elements.
I first decided to go with this layout:

When an alert would appear the player would press a button and this screen would appear

The player would then be able to switch between tabs to get the relevant information. In the end I decided that these were too many steps. I also felt that it didn't feel very Real Life HUD so I came up with this.

Here I have changed the Alerts box to actual buttons for the player's texts, email etc. the circles below will tell the player how many unread texts or emails they have. When the buttons are pressed these will show.

Here is the Texts UI it looks exactly how you would expect a text UI to look. this way the player would be able to immediately recognise and use the UI.

This is the Email UI I based this off of Gmail. Again I did this because it will be easily recognisable and players will be able to immediately use it.
This is the Text Messages Part translated into the engine, it is still a WIP
Next is Script
My writing partner Adam and I decided to make the AI the enemy of the game and go to a slightly darker place with it. We decided to stick with a 2 person relationship because it's what we know best. As Well as this we have decided to age up the characters to college students because we felt that if they were aged up they would understand certain concepts and social scenarios better.
